Paul Van Ommen - Sail On Board
Main Menu

Meet the team

Paul has eight years experience working for the Netherlands Sail Charter Trade Association (BBZ). The Association represents its members in dealings with local, national and international governments or institutions. Its main focus is on issues related to ports and port facilities; laws and regulations concerning manning, environment, safety, labour and education.

He is a board member of Sail Training Association Netherlands (STAN) and a member of the Safety Council of European Maritime Heritage (EMH). EMH operates mainly as a network organisation for European advocacy groups for traditional ships in operation, but in some cases also as a representative organisation at a European level.

As well as a brief career at sea as a merchant navy officer he has worked as a journalist, operations manager for a cruise company and a logistics manager at a construction project. Together with his family he has lived and worked in Mozambique and Indonesia for five years, but his home base for over 25 years is Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
