We are thrilled to be working on the Liberty Tall Ships Regatta 2019 in partnership with L’Armada 2019. The regatta will see the international fleet of Tall Ships race from Rouen, France, to The Hague, The Netherlands. We’re delighted to have now added a feeder race that will enable the ships to go onto the start of the Tall Ships Races 2019 in Aalborg.

The Regatta will join L’Armada Rouen – running from 6-16 June – to help celebrate it’s 30th anniversary, creating a truly fantastic experience for the famous Tall Ships fleet and spectators alike. Coinciding with the 75th Anniversary of D-Day and the liberation of occupied territory in Northwestern Europe, the Liberty Tall Ships Regatta 2019 will echo the theme of international friendship and understanding that is central to each and every Sail Training International Tall Ships event. After racing through the English Channel/La Manche the fleet will embark on a Cruise-in-Company to Scheveningen/The Hague where there will be an invigorating port programme between 20-23 June.

An exhilarating feeder leg is planned for those ships wishing to join the intimate fleet to compete in what promises to be a challenging and exciting race to the North Sea towards Aalborg and the start of The Tall Ships Races 2019 adventure. This leg will offer additional opportunities for trainee recruitment by providing an international competition at sea.

The Liberty Tall Ships Regatta 2019 will link the glorious Armada Rouen (6 – 16 June) event with Scheveningen/The Hague (20 – 23 June) and the start of the Tall Ships Races in Aalborg (3 – 6 July) with two optional race legs. The first will start off the French coast on Monday 17 June after the spectacular Parade of Sail from Rouen. There will be an exhilarating race course around a series of waypoints in the English Channel/La Manche, before the ships transit through the Dover Straights to the bustling port of Scheveningen in The Netherlands.

After the action-packed port programme in Scheveningen/The Hague those vessels going onto start of The Tall Ships Races 2019 in Aalborg, Denmark on 3 July will have the option to take part in the North Sea Feeder Race. This exciting event will start off the northern Dutch coast and finish off Skagen, Denmark on 29 June allowing vessels an opportunity to visit ports in the region before arriving in Aalborg.

“Sail Training International is most grateful to Patrick Herr, our long-term friend at Armada Rouen, and to our new partners in Scheveningen/The Hague for making this possible. This early-summer Regatta promises to provide a terrific opportunity for the Tall Ships, and their hundreds of trainees from around the world, en route to the start of The Tall Ships Races 2019 in Aalborg, Denmark on 3 July.”

Paul Bishop, Head of Race Directorate, Sail Training International (STI).
