Race Update 4

July 16, 2010

Norwegian barque Statsraad Lehmkuhl has finished the Antwerp to Aalborg race in provisional first place in both class and overall.  She was second over the line to Mir (Russia), who on corrected time is currently in ninth position in class.

All results remain provisional until declaration forms have been submitted and reviewed by the race committee.

Since the 1600hrs UCT/GMT report, Christian Radich (Norway) has also crossed the line in provisional second place in class and overall on corrected time.  Shtandart (Russia) remains in third place in class and overall.

In classes B, C and D the positions remain the same as this morning’ report, with

Tecla (Netherlands) holding the lead in the Class B fleet, followed by Jens Krogh (Denmark) and Constantia (Sweden).

In Class C, Dar Szczecina (Poland) remains first in class with Rona II (UK) holding her second place and Black Diamond of Durham (UK) third.

Polarrev (Belgium) remains first in Class D, with Miles to Go (Belgium) in second and Tomidi (Belgium) third.  There is also something of a battle going on between Hansa (Spain) and Tomidi for line honours in class D – it is currently extremely close.

Some ten vessels are within 100 miles of the finishing line, where winds have died down somewhat to 10-15 knots, and are expected to visit different ports in the region before arriving in Aalborg.
