Irish Sea race gathers pace

August 28, 2012

At this evening’s communication schedule, Johanna Lucretia (UK) leads the fleet both overall and in Class A/B.  Tecla (Netherlands) lies in second place, both overall and in Class A/B.  However it should be noted that due to the system of measuring distances used in this particular race, these placings do not necessarily provide an accurate reflection of the positions.

Tonight the fleet continue to race – the forecast is for S or SW 5-7 with increasing wind strength, making it a more testing night for the trainees.  Seas are forecast moderate with rain and the occasional thundery shower.

Cut-off time for racing is mid-day local time tomorrow (Weds), exact time depending the start time of each vessel.  After the finish the fleet are free to come in to Liverpool on the next high tide, which could be around 2200hrs on Wednesday or around 1100hrs on Thursday.

Tomidi (Belgium) did not race in the end, and is currently in Holyhead, but is aiming to arrive in Liverpool either Wednesday evening or Thursday morning.
