Meet the team

Ross has been working with sail training for the last 15 years. He is a Trustee of the charity Sail Training International and Chairman of Tall Ships Races International Limited. Previously, he was the first Chief Executive of Sail Training International from 2006 until 2008.

Ross participated as a trainee on the Tall Ships Races from A Coruna to Antwerp aboard Christian Radich in 2006. He has also participated on sail training voyages on Stavros S Niarchos and Jolie Brise. In 2011, he achieved a dream of sailing his 40-foot yacht across the Atlantic and around the Caribbean.

For most of his earlier professional career, Ross worked as a management consultant for Accenture, assisting some of the world’s largest and most successful companies in the oil and gas, communications and high-tech industries. He was a partner in Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting) from 1989 to 2002. Latterly as a Managing Partner in Accenture, he held a number of international leadership positions with responsibility for parts of Accenture’s business in strategic consulting, client portfolio management, product development, and outsourcing.

Ross obtained a BSc in Economics and Accounting from Bristol University in 1978. He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1981 and is a memmber of the Institute Of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales. He completed the Advanced Management Programme at Templeton College, Oxford University in 1994. Ross is a lifetime Fellow of The Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA). Ross qualified as a RYA Yachmaster in 2004.
